If you did see it, then you are clear to proceed:
Let’s talk about why we are all here! Why are reviews so important?
Remember the good old days when you could just hang out a sign and people would find you?
Those days are gone!
Remember the good old days when all of your customers found you with the Yellow Pages (the book, not the .com)?
Those days are gone!
Remember the good old days when all of your customers would just find you by searching for you on Google?
Well, guess what? Those days are gone!
Even though Google is still the King of Everything when it comes to search, the way they show you and your competitors has completely changed over the years. Those changes have basically made reviews one of the most important parts of your online presence, if not THE most important part.
A recent survey showed:
- 84% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations for a business, product, or service.
- Just 5% of consumers say they don’t pay attention to online reviews. This is down from 11% in 2015.
- After reading a positive review, 90% of your customers will visit their website, search for more reviews to validate their choice, visit the business, or contact the business. That means that only 10% of your customers will continue searching for other businesses.
Are you starting to catch my drift?
But wait! There’s more! (I’ve always wanted to say that!)
Reviews have become a major ranking factor for many review sites. The more reviews you have, good or bad; the more likely you are to get a top position. This is a major factor for Google, Yelp, and Facebook Local positioning. Given the fact that both Bing and Yahoo use Yelp reviews and that covers most of your online presence.
And let’s not forget the human factor…
Then you’re doing a search and you see the results, you look at the reviews. I’m sure you’ve noticed the lucky few businesses that Google has deemed worthy of showing you. Now, having more reviews will certainly help you get on that list. However, even if you’re not the first 3 listings, you’re in good shape. If someone clicks the MORE RESULTS button on their phone, tablet, or desktop, they’re sure to see the many results for what they’re looking for. What do they use to scan them? That’s right! 5 stars baby! And if you’ve got 5 stars and your competitor has 5 stars. Now, what do they look for? The MOST number of reviews!
And guess who’s going to win that review race? That’s right! YOU! You’re really good at this!
Now, don’t forget; we’ve got 2 more of these Boot Camp Emails.
Boot Camp, Day 3: How do I get more reviews?
Boot Camp, Day 4: When do I have enough reviews?
